From instruction to action

DNA stores the instructions used to make proteins. Messenger RNA carries a working copy of an instruction to the ribosome, where amino acids are assembled into proteins such as enzymes, receptors and structural components.

Receptors act like antennae. When they recognise a compatible signal, they start a cascade inside the cell. That cascade can influence which genes are read and which proteins are produced.

Why energy matters

Mitochondria supply much of the energy a cell needs. When energy production becomes less efficient, even intact biological instructions can be carried out less effectively. This is one reason cellular energy is central to conversations about longevity.

Ageing skin also accumulates oxidative stress and senescent cells. The result can be slower renewal, reduced structural protein production and less coordinated communication between cells.

A realistic cosmetic goal

Skincare cannot stop biological ageing. It can, however, support hydration, barrier function, antioxidant defence and the visible quality of the skin. Peptides, vesicle-based actives and carefully chosen lipids are useful because they address different parts of that picture.

A well-built routine should support the skin consistently instead of overwhelming it with as many active ingredients as possible.
